Sesame Place of Langhorne, PA recently announced that it's been designated as a Certified Autism Center (CAC). The Sesame Street-inspired amusement park is proud to offer specialized services to guests with autism and other special needs.
Partnering with The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES), all Sesame Place staff members now receive autism sensitivity training in areas such as sensory awareness, motor skills, program development, social skills, communication, environment, and emotional awareness.
The park features a new sensory guide, as well as a ride accessibility guide which can be completely personalized to each child's specific needs upon arrival. Additionally, they are providing quiet rooms for those who need a break from sensory stimuli, noise-cancelling headphones to use within the park, and designated low-sensory areas.
Last year, Sesame Street introduced its first character with autism, Julia – and children can now meet Julia in person at Sesame Place!
We applaud Sesame's strong stance on inclusion. They are spreading awareness about autism and creating a space where all families can enjoy a wonderful, inclusive experience! The park opens for the 2018 season on April 28th.
